Votes are being counted in the capital after Labour insiders were spooked by rumours that Tory candidate Susan Hall could pull off a shock against Sadiq Khan. Figures from Merton and Wandsworth and Greenwich and Lewisham suggest that Mr Khan has seen a swing towards him from Conservative supporters - although there is a long way to go. Polls in the run up to the ballot on Thursday had shown Mr Khan with a comfortable lead of between 10 and 22 points. However, jitters started spreading through Labour circles yesterday over a spike in turnout in outer London - typically dominated by Conservative voters and where anger about the ULEZ expansion has been most fierce.

Daniel Rooney, of Cambuslang, was playing in Radisson RED in Glasgow when he was noticed by celebrity correspondent and TV presenter Ross King - a 'good friend' of Gary Barlow. X-Factor star Olly Murs had been due to start Take That's show at the Hydro in Glasgow, but was forced to cancel at the last minute, leaving the band with no opening act. Simon Thomas and his wife Derrina have welcomed their second child together, a son Theo Benjamin Thomas.  Taking to Instagram on Friday, the former Blue Peter presenter announced the happy news as he shared a heartfelt snap of the couple with their newborn.  The TV star, 51, who is currently the host of Soccer Saturday, gushed over how proud he is of his wife Derrina after the couple experienced a difficult birth with their first child, Talitha.

Furious locals in Dublin have claimed the Rwanda effect in Ireland is 'getting ridiculous' as more migrants fly in from the UK in a bid to avoid being deported to Africa. Dozens of migrants are fleeing across the Irish Sea every day and setting up camp in the Irish capital amid an ongoing row with the British government over immigration. Hundreds had been sleeping rough beside Dublin's International Protection Office, which had no toilets or washing facilities - before the camp was cleared on Wednesday by the Irish authorities. Michael Smith, 57, a cab driver, said that over the last week he had had five migrants asking to be dropped off on Mount Street in Dublin.

Madonna is bringing her Celebration Tour to a close in grand fashion with a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Known only as The Naked Gardener on YouTube, an American woman from Arizona is baring it all and sharing her unique perspective on the age-old practice of gardening in the nude. First established in 2014, World Naked Gardening Day has since taken place each year on the first Saturday of May. As stated on their home page, World National Gardening Day is when 'people across the globe are encouraged, on the first Saturday of May, to tend their portion of the world's garden unclothed as nature intended.' However, for The Naked Gardener, each day serves as a opportunity to plant seeds and prune bushes in the nude - and the gardening enthusiast has detailed why it's 'vital' to strip off and realign with Mother Earth.
